Cute Carrie can’t be stopped
And they say American Idol winners don’t make it after the show’s over.

Carrie Underwood is proving them wrong in all sorts of way. Whoever “they” are. But I digress.
Carrie just saw her third straight single go No. 1 at country radio. Before He Cheats, her sassiest song to date, hit that milestone, as did her breakout single, Jesus, Take the Wheel, and Don’t Forget to Remember Me.
That’s on top of selling 3.5 million copies of her freshman album.
That’s on top of two trophies from the Academy of Country Music.
That’s on top of landing four CMA nominations and a performance slot on Monday’s CMA Awards show, airing on News 2.
She cannot be stopped! Literally!
Remember, Carrie told WSIX morning man Gerry House that she keeps a handgun at the house, so don’t even try to stop her!
Mazel tov to Carrie and her peeps.
Hallo-Casino!

Boo! Happy Halloween to all!
Vanderbilt alumnus and former Chicago Bulls player Charles Davis threw his annual Hallo-Casino at Sambuca Sunday!
The place was decked out with fun spooky decor, delicious finger foods and topped off with all of my favorite gambling tables- blackjack, poker and craps!
Those in attendance were dressed to kill! Charles was a perfect Pharaoh!

Check out the dance contest! I caught Marilyn practically in a backbend! The poor bloody nurse, behind her, almost slid off stage while dancing!
Proceeds from the night went to the Charles Davis Foundation, helping empower inner city youth and families.
Did you make it to any Halloween parties yet?
Trisha is a Broadway goddess
I am not kidding.
Trisha Yearwood absolutely destroyed TPAC last night at what’s becoming the annual Broadway Meets Country event. That’s where Broadway stars sing country songs and visa versa.
Trisha tacked Somewhere from West Side Story and there really are no words for how powerful it was. The entire crowd immediately lept to its feet when she hit that last note.
Other highlights:
- Nashville Star winner Chris Young held his own and then some when he did a duet with Brian d’Arcy James of You’re Nothing Without Me from City of Angels.
- Broadway performer Laura Bell Bundy, soon to star in the stage version of Legally Blonde, was way too cute when she tacked Gretchen Wilson hit All Jacked Up.
- The Color Purple star Felicia Fields did an amazing Wynonna, throwing in some fabulous steps to jazz it up.
- And a big shout-out to country newcomer and last-second addition Joanna Cotten, who turned in an amazing version of What I Did For Love from A Chorus Line.
TMZ.com: Reese, hubby separate
Web site TMZ.com says Reese Witherspoon and her actor husband, Ryan Phillippe, have separated.
The Web site says it got a statement from the couple’s publicist saying:
“We are saddened to announce that Reese & Ryan have decided to formally separate. They remain committed to their family and we ask that you please respect their privacy and the safety of their children at this time.”
People.com reported after the TMZ.com posting that it had confirmed the news.
Reese and Ryan have been married for seven years. The two met at Reese’s 21st birthday party.
Reese, as you probably know, spent many childhood years in Nashville, starting a modeling and acting career here and attending the private Harpeth Hall school. Her parents still live here.
Reese and Ryan co-starred in 1999’s Cruel Intentions, and Ryan proposed shortly after that.
Reese Witherspoon and Ryan split!
It seems as though our cute hometown darlin’ Reese Witherspoon and her hubby Ryan Phillippe have split!
According to www.tmz.com, the couple’s rep released a statement that says “We are saddened to announce that Reese & Ryan have decided to formally separate. They remain committed to their family and we ask that you please respect their privacy and the safety of their children at this time.”
The couple has been together for seven years and have two children.
Reese used to live at the end of my street and we both attended Catholic schools, so running in to the starlet wasn’t rare.
CMAs are getting ‘Desperate’
Gotta love when the CMA Awards move to ABC.
The good news for us: Eye candy from Desperate Housewives.
Fellers, Eva Longoria will be here Monday to be a presenter. And ladies, he might be shown around town by Nashville native Jamie Denton, a.k.a. Mike “Just Woke Up from a Coma” Delfino, who also will be a presenter.
But that’s not all.
Other TV stars giving out CMA trophies include Kimberly Williams-Paisley from ABC’s According to Jim (and she also happens to be married to Entertainer of the Year nominee Brad Paisley), All My Children star Cameron Mathison (who is not married to a CMA nominee), and Billy Ray Cyrus and his daughter, Miley Cyrus, star of Disney’s Hannah Montana.
Added to performers list: The Wreckers, Jason Aldean and Vince Gill/Sheryl Crow/Amy Grant/Jenny Gill.
C’mon down and walk on stars
Reba McEntire, Ronnie Milsap and the Fisk Jubilee Singers will be there at 3 p.m. Sunday for the Music City Walk of Fame Induction ceremony.
And you, dear readers, are invited. It’s open to the public. Just show up to what’s being called Hall of Fame Park, which is that green space between the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum and the downtown Hilton hotel.
Those three stars and the late Roy Orbison, Maestro Kenneth Schermerhorn and songwriters Boudleaux and Felice Bryant (Rocky Top) will get the very first stars on the brand-new Nashville version of the Hollywood star walk.
The CMA Awards show is the next night so you know there’ll be a boatload of celebrities there.
Fashion fun: Tutti Fruiti on Manuel
Country couture king Manuel — the guy who put Johnny Cash in black — will be honored in an invitation-only fashion show Sunday at War Memorial.
Manuel’s daughter, Morelia Cuevas, and I will co-host, so it’ll be a real beauty and the beast kinda thing.
In the crowd: Little Richard, Tanya Tucker, Heartland, Julie Roberts, Trent Tomlinson, Josh Gracin, Emmylou Harris, Marty Stuart, Gary Nichols, Buddy Jewell, Riders in the Sky, Janie Fricke, Lynn Anderson, Collin Raye, Mark Collie, Connie Smith, Lane Turner and Little Jimmy Dickens.
Random!
Two Broadway stars back Ford
The Broadway Meets Country show happens tonight at TPAC. But it looks like a couple of stars arrived early.
Ben Vereen and Peter Gallagher, the dad, Sandy Cohen, on Fox’s The O.C., both showed at a Harold Ford Jr. event last night at the Hermitage Hotel.
Ben was looking dapper in a top hat and earrings.
Peter Gallagher looked like, well, Sandy Cohen from The O.C.
The event, by the way, was hosted by Ashley Judd, who has also done some stumping for a Democratic state Senate candidate in Williamson County this fall.
No word on whether any Broadway stars — or any Judds — are supporting Ford’s opponent, Bob Corker.
Win a CMA prize package, baby!
That’s right, you can get two free tix to the CMA Awards show Nov. 6, but that’s not all.
We’ll also throw in a free one-night stay at the Renaissance Hotel downtown, and the CMA was kind enough to throw in two tix to its official post-show party.
You can be rubbing elbows with show hosts Brooks & Dunn, and bunches of other stars, if you win.
All ya gotta do is watch my Brad On 2 segments this week at 6:20 and 6:50 on News 2 This Morning.
I’ll give you a secret word, and you come back here to my Web page and fill out the form on the right.
We’ll pick a winner from all the right answers. C’mon!
