Glen Campbell day!

Glen Campbell-20.jpgAlright it’s not really his “day,” but he will be making several stops around Nashville today.

Grammy award winner and hall of famer, Glen Campbell will be presenting one of his personal guitars to the Musician’s Hall of Fame & Museum around lunchtime. Later tonight you can see the Rhinestone Cowboy himself at the Ryman Auditorium. Campbell will be playing the 650 AM WSM 81st anniversary listener appreciation concert.

The guy has played with Elvis, Merle Haggard and Frank Sinatra! He is a living legend.

CMA releases some good seats

This is the first year the public can go to the CMA Awards show, so good seats went really quickly, even though they ain’t cheap.

brooks-and-dunn.jpgBut here’s the latest: The CMA just released a bunch of $350 tix throgh the TicketMaster outlets. That’ll put you around the 200 club level.

As of this morning, there are still some left.

You’ll see Brooks & Dunn host and perform.

Also playing: Sheryl Crow and Vince Gill, Dierks Bentley, Kenny Chesney, Sara Evans, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, Martina McBride, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, George Strait, Carrie Underwood, and John Rich of Big & Rich performing with Gretchen Wilson.

Ex-nanny’s peeps launch Web site

The Sara Evans divorce proceedings kick off this morning in Williamson County court. Just some motions and (with any luck) a gag order may come out of this.

sara-evans.jpgWatching very closely today — Sara’s ex-nanny, Alison Clinton Lee, the one accused of having sex with Sara’s husband. Alison has denied the charge, even passed a lie-detector test.

And Alison has asked for a public retraction. Now her peeps are taking it a step further, as first reported on my partner’s blog, www.stephinthecity.com.

There’s a Web site set up exclusively to demand Sara give a public apology. At least it’s a polite Web site.

It’s called “Please Apologize Sara Evans,” or in Web parlance, pleaseapologizesaraevans.com.

Web Site Begs for Sara Evans to Apologize

alisonclinton.jpg
Friends and supporters of Alison Clinton Lee launched http://www.pleaseapologizesaraevans.com/.

Alison is Sara Evans’ former nanny accused of having an affair with the country music stars’ estranged husband, Craig Schelske. Last week a retired FBI agent specializing in polygraphs gave Alison a lie-detector test, which she passed. Alison has demanded a public apology from Evans since the allegations were made.

The site states, “It’s time for justice” and has a spot for supporters to leave comments.

The Evans-Schelske divorce proceedings will be held tomorrow in Nashville. Clinton’s attorney, Ronnie Berke, will be on hand.

Work it Titans!

bj.jpg
The Fourth Annual Wachovia Football & Fashion Show was loads of fun Tuesday night at City Hall.

Several Titans cheerleaders and players were on hand for the cocktail reception, silent auction and fashion show. Drew Bennett crawled like a tiger out on stage in his black fur coat, then jumped off stage to give his date a little love. Brandon Jones, who was voted one of Nashville’s hottest singles, wore his signature sunglasses with his fur hat and coat ensemble (see picture).

Jay DeMarcus of the Rascal Flatts was in attendance with his beautiful wife Alison. Jay donated a signed guitar that this lady bought for four thousand dollars!

The event was hosted by Tennessee Titans linebacker Peter Sirmon and his wife Lindsay. Proceeds went to BRIDGES of Williamson County, a domestic violence shelter for women and children.

Near sell-out: See B.B. in 2-D

Surprise surprise.

bb.jpgTickets sold very quickly for B.B. King’s shows Thursday and Friday at the Second Avenue club named for the legendary bluesman.

Good seats disappeared nearly instantly after his peeps announced he would record a live DVD and CD, and as of this morning, all the seats where you can see B.B. are gone gone.

Now, if you’re really a big B.B. fan — and who’s not? — the club is gonna set up a room with a projector screen so you can see the performance from the next (really crowded) room.

OK, it’s not the same, but you’ll get those feel-good vibrations. And for $75, you’ll also get a house salad, prime rib, chicken or salmon and cheesecake.

Yummy.

Call the club at 615-256-2727 for tickets.

And call me if you don’t want your cheesecake….

ASCAP Awards!

bradp.jpgThe 44th Annual ASCAP Country Music Awards took over the Ryman Auditorium Monday night. The finest songwriters of the most performed country songs of the past year were honored.

Among those in attendance were Kenny Chesney, John Rich, LeAnn Rimes, Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley, Jon Bon Jovi, Carrie Underwood, Kellie Pickler and a list of others.
kellie.jpg A highlight of the evening included a special tribute to three-time Grammy Award winner Jimmy Webb, who took home the ASCAP Voice of Music Award.

Here’s a brief look at some of the other top honors-

Carrie Underwood’s Jesus, Take The Wheel received ASCAP Country Song of the Year. Hillary Lindsey, along with co-writers Brett James and Gordie Sampson did an amazing rendition of the hit song.

John Rich received ASCAP Songwriter/Artist of the Year for several of his hits like All Jacked Up, Big Time, and Like We Never Loved At All.

Brett James and Rivers Rutherford shared the ASCAP Songwriter of the Year honor.

Immediately following the awards show, everyone made their way over to the BellSouth Building for the official Post Awards Party. Jon Bon Jovi and John Rich both stopped by for the late night shenanigans.

Check out our recap of the night, including red carpet coverage on my nifty video player to the right!

Sugarland’s whiskey a go-go!

Jennifer_Nettles.jpg Hot country act Sugarland turn the state fairgrounds into, well, fairgrounds last night as they held a party to launch new album Enjoy the Ride.

That album drops, as the kids say, Nov. 7.

Enjoy the Ride, right? So the band’s label set up a ferris wheel, and some other rides, and of course, my favorite part, fair food. Cheeseburgers, funnel cake, cotton candy, kettle corn.

Lead singer Jennifer Nettles has a different favorite. In fact, she joked that there was only one reason they put up the entire fair in the first place.

“I wanted a hot cider with whiskey,” she told me.

By the way, on CMA morning Nov. 6, Sugarland and Bon Jovi will be downtown performing live for ABC’s Good Morning America. So there’s gonna be a block party at Broadway and Fifth avenues that morning, so come on down.

Who Let the Dogs Out?

us.jpgIt took me awhile to get these pictures posted, but here’s to all the dog lovers. Dog Day at Centennial Park was barkin’! My dog Trinity wore her dog day shirt.

Former Miss Tennessee Alison DeMarcus judged several contest with her cute little pup sporting a dazzling rhinestone collar.

Watch out! Carrie’s packin’

Don’t break into Carrie Underwood’s house.

The American Idol winner-turned country sensation moved into a Williamson County home a year or so ago, and Carrie told WSIX morning man Gerry House there’s a handgun at her place.

carrie.jpgSeems Mr. Underwood bought Carrie a Baretta for protection.

Carrie wasn’t thrilled with the idea at first, but her dad made her fire it so she could get used to handling it.

“I’m actually a pretty good shot,” Carrie said.

Great!

“But I do it with my eyes closed.”

Oh. Not great.

By the way, intruders aren’t safe if Carrie runs out of bullets. The singer says she she’s very handy with a baseball bat and she keeps plenty around the house.
