Josh Turner to join the Billy Graham film cast
And who knew that the deep-voiced Josh Turner had the acting bug?
But folks working on the Billy Graham movie, Billy: The Early Years, confirmed to me today that Josh indeed will be in the movie, playing a friend of the famed preacher when he was a young man.
Josh also will contribute some songs for the movie, under the direction of John Carter Cash (Johnny Cash’s son) and former Nashville Star Anastasia Brown, the music supervisors for the movie.
The filming started yesterday in Watertown, Tenn., and there are some Hollywood stars attached to this bad boy.
Martin Landau, 76, perhaps best known for being in Mission: Impossible in the ’60s and the movie Ed Wood in 1994, will play Graham’s mentor, Charles Templeton.
And do you remember the original Bionic Woman, Lindsay Wagner? She’s playing Graham’s mom.
If that’s not random enough, 21-year-old pretty boy Armie Hammer — great-grandson of industrialist/philanthropist Armand Hammer — will play the part of Billy Graham. (OK, I’ve got to say it: Anyone else thinking about baking powder right now?)
Seen in the City: Gene Simmons blows Opryland a KISS
You just never know who you might run into at the ol’ Gaylord Opryland Resort & Hotel.
Tonight, it was Gene Simmons.
You know, the long-tongue fire-breather from rock band KISS.
Or, as the kids today might know him, the dude with his own reality series on A&E called Family Jewels.
Or as country music fans might know him, the kinda creepy older sunglasses-wearing dude who was on Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice with Trace Adkins.
Seems Gene was in town to talk to a big ol’ entrepreneurs convention being held at Opryland Hotel. No word on whether they needed an extra room for his tongue.
Seen in the City: It wasn't exactly J-Lo, but...
Would you settle for one of Jennifer Lopez’s exes?
And no, I’m not talking about Ben Affleck.
How about dancer/choreographer Cris Judd? When I asked my News 2 buddy Tiani Jones about him, she offered a “He’s cute.”
Good enough for me. So I’ll tell you that Cris Judd has been in town with fellow choreographers for the Fox show So You Think You Can Dance. (No, I don’t.)
Chris and his show crew gathered at trendy Gulch eatery Radius 10 late Tuesday night. They were at the chef’s bar (sniff sniff!) enjoying scallops, ahi tuna and some skrimps.
Remember, if you spot a celeb, lemme know at brad@wkrn.com.
In lieu of a fantastic prize, you will have my undying affection, and perhaps a delicious double-meat sandwich from Noshville.
