Public memorial service slated for Jim Hager

by Brad on May.02, 2008, under Comedians, Country music, Television

Like Johnny Cash and several other country music notables, Jim Hager will have a public memorial service at the Ryman.

That happens 2-4 p.m. Tuesday, and it’s open to everyone.

The family is suggesting donations be made in Jim’s name to one of his favorite charities, The Elephant Sanctuary, Box 393, Hohenwald, Tenn., 38462.

    The Hagers were not born in 1946. Read their bio;
    they went to college, then the service, then to L.A. where they worked with a whole list of entertainers. Then, they opened for Buck Owens for “many years” - all before Hee Haw began in 1969.

    Jim and Jon were patients at the VA Hospital in Nashville. If there were two or more in the hallway or waiting room, that was an audience to them. Two nicer or funnier guys you have never met. They loved people and people loved them. What kinder words can be said about someone? God Bless Jim! May he entertain Heaven until we get there and may Jon find peace in knowing the world loved them both!
