Kenny wins ACM Entertainer trophy, then knocks ACMs
Crazy stuff, no?
Kenny Chesney, on the air, says the Entertainer trophy – his fourth in a row — was even more special because it was fan voted.
Then backstage, he said the award is cheapened because it was fan voted.
“The entertainer of the year trophy is supposed to represent heart and passion and an amazing amount of sacrifice, commitment and focus,” Kenny said.
“That’s the way Garth won it four times, that’s the way I won it, that’s the way (George) Strait won it, Reba (McEntire), Alabama all those years. That’s what it’s supposed to represent.”
He said his complaint isn’t directed at fans, but fan voting for the top prize is ”complete disrespect.”
“I don’t think it’s right that they pick the one award that means the most, that all the artists sacrifice the most for. They’ve taken it from what the award really represents (and turned it) into a sweepstakes to see who can push people’s buttons the hardest on the Internet.”
Jessica/Tony split is supposedly confirmed
The Dallas Morning News is one of a couple of media outlets that swears it has iron-clad sources saying part-time Nashvillian/future country star Jessica Simpson and Dallas QB/Carrie Underwood ex Tony Romo are done.
“After taking several oaths not to divulge my sources, two people close to Tony and Jess have told me that the glam couple is splitsville, kaput, over, put a fork in it,” a Dallas columnist writes.
This comes despite Jessica’s rep tells E! Online on Wednesday: “Not true, not true! I spoke to Jess yesterday and the day before. They are still together.”
And TV’s Extra, which airs right here on News 2, reported Tuesday, after talking to Jess, that split rumors are false.
So who really knows….
I’ll tell ya who. Our very own 10 p.m. news producer extraordinaire, Texas native Denise Killian, who also worked in Dallas for three years. Denise spent enough time around news sources that she SWEARS that her sources KNOW that Jessica and Tony are broken up.

Do WHAT?!?!? Shania Twain and Mutt split
It really is hard to believe, isn’t it?
I mean, Shania Twain and famed producer Robert “Mutt” Lange have been married for 14 years.
Mutt helped Shania launch her career in the early ’90s and they fell in love and they seemingly have been inseparable since.
The story broke in Canada, but Shania’s Nashville label publicist, Jason Owen, issued a statement just an hour or so ago.
“Shania Twain and her husband, music producer Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange, are separating after 14 years of marriage. This is a private matter and there will be no further comment at this time,” the statement said.
Shania is 42, Mutt, 59.
They have a son, Eja, 6.
Skid Row, 'N Sync, Jackson 5 hit the Wildhorse!
OK, so that’s a slight exaggeration.
But ‘N Synch’s Chris Kirkpatrick, Jackson Five’s Jermaine Jackson and Skid Row’s Sebastian Bach all sang at the Wildhorse Saloon last night.
It was for the finale taping for the second season of CMT’s Gone Country, a.k.a. John Rich’s country boot camp for non-country singers.
That starts airing in August.

Hannah Montana takes over downtown Nashville!
OK, that’s a bit of an exaggeration, but Hannah Montana star Miley Cyrus indeed is shooting scenes at the Hermitage Hotel.
Those scenes are in the hotel’s Grand Ballroom. It’s so fancy that they had to capitalize the g in “grand” and the b in and the “ballroom.”) No, there are no performance scenes, and there aren’t any of those extras we’ve heard so much about recently.
It’s just some low-key scenes — or as low key as any appearance with an international tween sensation can be.
But, so far, the hotel has NOT been flooded with shrieking 4-year-old fans. There is, however, extra security there.
But really, it’s extremely unlikely that fans can see her. Miley’s not staying there, and she goes in and out of secret entrances.
Public memorial service set for Dottie Rambo
That happens at 1 p.m. Monday at Christ Church, 15354 Old Hickory Blvd. in Nashville, near Brentwood.
All friends and fans of gospel great Dottie Rambo are invited to that service.
Ms. Rambo died early Sunday when storm winds blew her tour bus off the road in Missouri and the bus crashed into a guard rail and an embankment.
Visitation has been set for 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane in Nashville.
A private reception for close friends and relatives happens at the church at 11 a.m. Monday.
Donations in Ms. Rambo’s memory may be made to the Dottie Rambo Memorial Fund, P. O. Box 50508, Nashville, 37205.

Carrie just loved getting inducted into the Opry Saturday night.
She did her press conference clutching the trophy they give Opry members, and she never let go.
“I’ve set it down. But I don’t think I’ve not touched it since I got it,” Carrie told reporters afterward. “It may sleep with me.”
