Snoop made country vid while in town for CMT awards
Still shocked that Snoop Dogg made a country music video? Me too.
I found his L.A.-based manager today, who said Snoop did most of the videotaping when he was here a few months back for the CMT Music Awards at Belmont’s Curb Event Center. The footage of Snoop with Dancing with the Stars champ-turned-country singer Julianne Hough? That was backstage at those awards.
The footage of Brad Paisley playing guitar? That was at a Hendersonville studio. And all the footage of Snoop in the woods? That was from Johnny Cash’s Hendersonville property, shown to Snoop by Johnny’s son, John Carter Cash.
All the shots of Lower Broadway, the honky-tonks, the Hard Rock Cafe, that was taken when Snoop was in town.
He really wanted Willie Nelson in the video, but his peeps said Willie would be doing a show in Amsterdam that week. So Snoop flew from Nashville right to Amersterdam (with a few stops, I’m sure) to hook up with Willie and get that footage that you see in the video.
Another Nashville connection, sort of. Snoop’s album, which includes Sensual Seduction and the country song, My Medicine, was produced by Whitey Ford, a.k.a. Everlast, who recently got a Nashville manager, Stuart Dill, and has been spending some time in Music City.
So will the song ever be a radio single? Maybe, his manager says.
In fact, Snoop is open to doing a whole album of country music.
