Dierks Bentley is the star at John Rich talent contest
While Cher was hanging out at Tootsies (see below), Dierks Bentley surprised/delighted folks who showed up for John Rich’s monthly talent contest at 12th & Porter.
John had Dierks and songwriter extraordinaire Craig Wiseman (Tim McGraw hit Live Like You Were Dying) as judges for the Get Rich Talent Search.
But as things were winding up, John urged Dierks and Craig to get up on stage and sing some, c’mon.
Dierks did Settle for a Slow Down and a couple of others, and yes, Craig sang his big Tim McGraw hit.
Watching all the action: Gretchen Wilson, who was championed by John Rich early in her career.

JAIDA DREYER UNANIMOUSLY WON THIS EVENT AND WAS AMAZING!!!!!

I saw Jaida perform that night at 12th & Porter and she was hands down the winner. She’s the entire package. Nashville needs a breath of fresh air desperately and this girl is IT.

Jaida Dreyer does have it all. The “IT” factor exudes from her the moment she walks on stage. When the labels in town realize it takes more than a reality show to make a star, Jaida will be signed and absolutely become the next big thing. I wish she was on Nashville Star showing them how it’s done.

I agree with what Lisa commented.
I’ve known Jaida since she moved off the ranch and came to Nashville. One of the rare true talents that has just been blessed. She writes such poignant songs. You should hear some of the stuff she doesn’t sing on stage…for someone so young (I believe she’s just 19) you can tell she’s had a hard life. Her voice rips my heart out.
Here’s to hoping the higher powered record execs sober up and let this girl be the one to save country music. The community is certainly behind her.

I was there that particular evening and all I can say is WOW! What a spectacular night of great undiscovered talent. Dierks was also a nice surprise along with one of my favorite songwriters Craig Wiseman.
Jaida was sensational. The crowd favorite and my own personal winner. On a side note: she also had Carolyn Dawn Johnson backing her up which I thought was very, very cool.

I like her a lot. Someone said she is a husky Dolly with her voice. I heard she smokes a pack a day. I want to hear more from her, I just hope she keeps that voice in shape.

A pack a day is an exaggeration. Coming from someone in her camp…I know she hardly goes through a pack in 3 days and takes great care of her voice.
FYI..Faith, Martina and several are also smokers..sad but true.
