Fer real? Bruce Springsteen show doesn't sell out
In fact, as of this afternoon, you could still get tickets on the arena floor for the Bruce Springsteen Sommet Center show Aug. 21.
Sommet Center folks told me they had a “really strong” first weekend of ticket sales, but I couldn’t get any specific numbers.
All I do know is there are many seats left.
And concert promoters apparently have opened up seats behind the stage to accomodate what they are calling a 360-degree show.
The non-sellout isn’t a total surprise:
Bruce didn’t sell out on the first weekend of sales for his 2000 Nashville arena show either.

Sorry but I never got the whole “boss” thing and always found Springsteen incredibly over-rated. Yeah, some of his old stuff is good but lately not so much.
Besides, who in the world would pay those ticket prices to hear him spout his liberal viewpoint all night? No thanks.
Sheryl and Emmylou can have my tickets.

When purchasing my tickets Saturday for Springsteen’s show I did notice how many great seats were still available 30 minutes into the sale…even the floor, which are General Admission, standing room only.
As for the ticket prices, the Boss’ are cheaper than most acts out there today, including all the other “oldies but goodies” groups. But since Bruce plays for almost three hours from a 24-28 song set list on this tour I for one don’t mind the cost AND can’t wait til the show!

Yeah, it’d be so much better to go to a concert and hear someone talk about how awesome war is for 2 hours. I’m sure Ted Nugent will play here eventually for you, don’t worry.

I would imagine its hard for a lot of acts to sell out a venue like Sommet. I’d be interested in some other stats. I think that in this town, most people know someone in the industry and a lot of people think they can come up on a ticket closer to the show date. I remember seeing Keith Urban last year and at the end of the show, he jokingly said something to the effect of ‘you mind if I play a few more songs since I might not be invited back?’ in reference to not selling out the venue. Interesting, nonetheless.
I bought cheap seats and am thrilled. Springsteen is one of the best shows you’ll ever see. And his latest record, Magic, is phenominal. We’ll just have to see how the mood is, you know, since Danny’s death.
