Brooks & Dunn has a bikini bonanza for their new video
It makes sense: The new Brooks & Dunn song is called Put a Girl in It.
For the music video shot Tuesday, they put 100 girls in it. Most in bikinis.
Video director Wes Edwards says the duo requested 1,000 models, but the budget wouldn’t allow it.
Of course, Kix Brooks & Ronnie Dunn denied they had anything to do with the ladies being in the video.
Ronnie: “We’re so over that. Can’t believe they did that. It’s embarrassing.”
Kix: “I guess we already spent the money. It was all we had. Ya can’t turn back now.”
Ronnie: “You start exploiting that stuff and it snowballs.”
Darius makes radio history, makes Opry debut tonight
Yes, Darius Rucker as in Hootie and the Blowfish. Haven’t ya heard? He’s gone country. Fer real.
In fact, his first country radio single, Don’t Think I Don’t Think About It, already is around No. 16 on country radio charts.
A side note: It has been exactly 20 years since an African-American broke the top 20 on country charts. The man was Charley Pride, the song, I’m Going to Love Her on the Radio.
Darius tells me he’s quite psyched and quite nervous about the Opry performance tonight.
“I haven’t eaten much today. I was having lunch with my wife and daughter. She was like, ‘Why aren’t you eating?’ I was like, ‘I really don’t feel much like eating,’” he said.
“I’m pretty nervous,” Darius said. “But it’s a cool thing.”
'Man of Constant Sorrow' singer helps save crash victim
Bluegrass artist Dan Tyminski (Man of Constant Sorrow) and his Vandy nurse wife, Elise Tyminski, helped save a man in a nasty off-road ATV crash Monday morning in Franklin.
Elise was walking the dogs in the woods off Franklin Road when she saw an overturned four-wheeler about 120 yards down a steep slope, Franklin police said.
Elise heard a very faint cry for help, and she ran to tell her hubby, Dan, who called 911.
Elise did the hard work, hiking down the slope and calming the victim. She also put pressure on a bad head cut until help arrived, police said.
Rescue workers had to use a system of ropes and pulleys to get the ATV off the driver.
They knew the victim was going to be OK when they heard him cracking jokes during the rescue, paramedic David Wilber said.
Lifeflight took the victim to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Ya can't get enough FUSE red carpet pictures, yo
And these bad boys come from News 2 photojournalist Ray Arzate. Thanks, Ray Ray!

Many of you have asked about seeing Sunday Rose, the newborn baby of Keith Urban/Nicole Kidman.
Turns out that might not be any time soon, or at least it appears that pictures of the baby aren’t for sale.
There have been a few online stories that say Keith and Nicole are turning down pay-for-pics deals because they think such deals are “inappropriate.”
I asked Keith’s publicist about this and here’s the response:
“Many deal offers. All declined.”
Good on ya.
Lordy, lordy, Bob Mueller... has another birthday
Happy belated birthday to our No. 1 news dude, the big banana, if you will, Mr. Bob Mueller.
Bob said he very much enjoyed his 29th birthday on Saturday, spending time with the family unit. He took them all to the IRL race at Nashville SuperSpeedway.
And Bob said they even managed to get back to the car just before the downpour started, so he kept that signature stache silky smooth, and dry.
Another highlight — For the occasion, Bob’s youngest picked out a “fun-fetti” cake, which apparently has lots of different colored sprinkles and such throughout. Bob also got the new Robert Plant/Alison Krauss CD and lots o’ new golf clothes from the fam.
Bob is pictured here with his favorite present, a Nashville Sounds “happy birthday” ball from his his favorite News 2 buddy and deskmate, MYSELF!
Happy birthday, Bob! You have many leather-bound books and your office smells of rich mahogany.
Official Jessica Simpson-goes-country date: Sept. 9
Have I told you the official date for the release of Jessica Simpson’s first country album?
Are you on pins and noodles?
You can own your very own copy of that album, Do You Know?, starting Sept. 9.
And Jessica says that, by gum, she is a country girl!!
“Every single song is a piece of my heart … who I am,” she said, via press release.
“I’m not what everybody thinks that I am. Believe it or not, I’m a simple country girl.”
Really?
“I might buy expensive shoes,” she continues, “but, I’m definitely a simple country girl and this album will hopefully give people a sense of who Jessica is again.”
Well… I love Jessica, but most simple country girls don’t refer to themselves in the third person. Brad doesn’t get that.
Gaylord takes us inside da club of FUSE VIPs bash
No cameras were allowed inside the FUSE VIP opening, but Gaylord Opryland Resort was kind enough to provide these pics.

Indeedy, the big VIP opening for Gaylord Opryland Resort’s “Vegas-style nightclub,” FUSE, kinda fizzled.
Yes, host Kid Rock and special guest (and reality TV star/model/one-time Playboy pin-up) Kim Kardashian — both paid to be there Sunday night — did show up for the gig. And I thought Kim was particularly sweet during her first visit to Nashville.
And a shout-out to Kid Rock’s Nashville publicist-to-the-stars, Kirt Webster, who hooked up an early interview so we could make deadline.
But about half of the “confirmed” Nashville celebs were no-shows (at least on the red carpet).
That includes Backstreet Boy Nick Carter (in town making a solo album), one-time Titans star Eddie George, model/TV host Niki Taylor and singers Billy Ray Cyrus, Keith Anderson, Jay DeMarcus from Rascal Flatts, Emmylou Harris (can’t really see her in da club anyway), Keith Anderson, Hal Ketchum, Lorrie Morgan, Chuck Wicks (Stealing Cinderella) or Joe Nichols.
And let’s not even talk about the list of alleged “maybe” invitees like Snoop Dogg, Mario Lopez, Whitney Houston or Daily Fuentes. Not one showed, again, not on the red carpet anyway.
Who was there, besides Kid and Kim? Placekicker Rob Bironas and several other Titans; a couple of guys from Lonestar; American Idol alum Diana DeGarmo (looking hot!); Ty Herndon; Intern Adam from 107.5 The River; HGTV personality Sparkle Josh Johnson (who indeed was sparkly); country singer Danielle Peck; Michael Tait (who reports dc Talk is on indefinite hiatus); and Miss America 2004 Erica Dunlap, among others.
Oh, and let’s not forget some News 2 posse, including morning anchor Julie Kroenig, Amy Napier Viteri, Tiani Jones, Stephanie Langston, and others.
More, including lots o’ pictures, coming in later….
UPDATE
I’ve heard from several folks who saw Nick Carter there. I didn’t spot him on the red carpet, but, in fact, the Backstreet Boy was in da house.
