Are you crazy for Canadian crooners?
Are you daffy for free dinner?
Ga-ga for a girls night out?
You are in luck, my friends. While I have been out of town (I missed you!), the fine folks at News 2 have cooked up a great contest.
You and three girlfriends (or sisters, mom, any fun female) can win a Girls Night Out with Celine Dion.
The concert is Jan. 13 at the Sommet Center. And thanks to the fine folks at Merchants Restaurant, you’ll have a lovely dinner beforehand.
To enter, just scroll down on this page and click on Celine’s face.
If you do, my heart will go on. (Groan.)

Nicole Kidman to Aussie media: Give us a little space
by Brad on Aug.07, 2008, under Country music, Movies
“Keith and I are both appealing to the press … just to give us a little space so we can walk around Sydney and show the baby our town,” Nicole Kidman told Sydney radio 2DAY FM, according to the AP
You might remember a crush of media greeted Nicole and Keith Urban yesterday as they brought their one-month-old baby, Sunday Rose, to their native Australia for her first visit there.
Keith said she gets that reporters are interested in the baby, “but at the same time, it’s our little girl,” she said.
“Sometimes when people come right up in your face … you’re going: ‘Good God, would you do that to anybody else’s child?’”
Nicole did confirm, as a local Calypso Cafe server told me earlier this week, that the baby has “a bit of a reddish tint” in her hair.
“We’ve brought her back to meet the grandparents,” Nicole says, in what was mostly a sweet non-combative interview.

Dixie Chick Emily Robison is divorced from songwriter
by Brad on Aug.07, 2008, under Country music
And if TMZ and People report it, you know it’s right, yo!
TMZ.com did post the actual divorce papers for Emily Robison and singer/songwriter Charles Robison.
They’re gonna share child-rearing duties and split marital assets evenly, according to those papers.
And now for my embarrassing Emily Robison story.
You might remember all three Dixie Chicks were once blonde. So I was at a Chicks press conference several years ago at the BMI building in Nashville and this lovely tall brunette lady walked by me.
I turned to the then-Chicks Nashville publicist and commented that I found the young lady to be, uh, attractive and I asked if the publicist knew who the attractive woman was.
Publicist: “Are you serious?”
Me: “Heck, yeah. She’s hot!”
Publicist: “That’s Emily, you idiot.”
Me: “OMG. Please don’t repeat that. Please?!?!?”
Five minutes later, dozens of reporters are seated, and the Chicks walk in.
Emily makes a bee-line for me and slides into my lap.
“I hear you’ve been asking about me, big boy,” she purred.
Hilarious laughter ensues as my face turns bright red.
Keith and Nicole have to sneak their baby into Australia
by Brad on Aug.06, 2008, under Country music, Movies
Throngs of media, decoy cars, screaming fans….!
Looks like Sunday Rose Kidman Urban may be Australia’s newest biggest celebrity, according to People.com.
The celeb site says Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman wrapped up the one-month-old baby tightly in blankets and got off the plane in Sydney Wednesday evening local time, according to the Daily Telegraph.
That’s where the decoy cars were, to try to throw off all the reporters who showed to greet them (and probably try to get the first pics of Sunday Rose).
Nicole will be working while she’s there, doing some scenes and voice dubbing for the movie Australia, with Hugh Jackman, People.com reports.

Melissa Lawson, mother of five, wins ‘Nashville Star’
by Brad on Aug.05, 2008, under Country music, Television
And she thought Hispanic Texan Gabe Garcia had it all the way.
Melissa Lawson totally psyched herself out on stage, convinced, even in the final two, that host Billy Ray Cyrus would be reading Gabe’s name.
Didn’t happen. Melissa was shocked. And her kids were thrilled she won — not the recording contract, but the pickup truck.
“They’re like, ‘Great, ou won, Mom. Can I go see the truck?’ They are climbing all over that thing. I’m like, “Oh, my boys are so out of control,’” she told me, laughing, about 20 minutes after winning.
The analysis: Melissa likely secured the votes of lots of female country fans who, just like her, might have postponed their careers or dreams to raise kids.
“Ultimately, I had to say, you know what? I need to show my kids that it’s OK to live your dreams. You don’t have to give things up because there are challenges and obstacles.”

Happy Birthday Brad Schmitt!
by Hotness on Aug.05, 2008, under Uncategorized
Stupid me. All morning, starting around midnight, I thought some jerk was texting me every 30 minutes until I finally caught what was happening.
I had set my stupid phone calendar to remind me of a very special event occuring all day long, one that would have had me swing by Noshville for a wad of cheescake if I wasn’t such an idiot.
That’s right, it’s Brad “stick-a-cake-in-it-Barbara” Schmitt’s birthday!
Being out of the loop like all interns should be, I’m left to guess how old he is. I’m guessing 38. What do you think?
I snagged this photo of Brad hard at work on something about Jewel I wasn’t invited to. Nothing personal, I’m told.
Up early AND the hardest working man in show business. And to think this was the guy that used to get the crowd out of their seats at Sounds Games. That’s right, I said it!
So, in honor of his birthday, I’m going to show off one of my many talents and type out of a special song:
Happy birthday Brad Schmitt
Happy birthday Brad Schmitt
Happy birthday Brad Schmi – itt
Happy birthday Brad Schmitt!
No surprise here: Keith/Nicole baby has red hair
by Brad on Aug.04, 2008, under Country music, Movies, Seen In The City!
Looks like Sunday Rose Kidman Urban might already be favoring her mum.
A server at the Calypso Cafe in Berry Hill (I love that place!) tells me that Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman brought their newborn to the restaurant when she was only nine or 10 days old.
And the baby was sporting some tufts of light red hair.
Ain’t that adorable??
Some customers couldn’t help but sneak a peek at the famous baby, but folks pretty much left Keith and Nicole and Sunday Rose alone.
Steven Curtis Chapman considered quitting after tragedy
by Brad on Aug.04, 2008, under Christian music
I know so many people — Christian music fans and non-fans alike — were touched by the tragedy in Steven Curtis Chapman’s family a few months ago.
You might remember that Steven lost his little girl Maria in an accident on the family’s property in Williamson County.
He took it very hard at first.
“Initially Steven talked about never doing any concerts or media ever again,” his manager, Jim Houser, said in a statement.
“But quickly God began to show Steven that if he ever believed the songs he was writing, singing and recording before May 21 and Maria’s loss, that they must still be true now,” he said.
Steven’s first interview on the tragedy airs Wednesday morning on Good Morning America on News 2. Steven, his wife, and their three older children will appear in a six-minute interview with GMA’s Robin Roberts, who once was a sportscaster here in Nashville. Later that day, he’ll appear with Larry King on CNN.
“It’s the family’s hope that these appearances will serve as a chance to proclaim to a watching world what they know and are deeply convinced of even in these difficult days, the Gospel is true and faith in Christ is our Hope,” Houser said.
Steven’s publicist told me today that Steven is receiving amazing support from fans during the few shows that he has done since Maria died. At one point during the song Cinderella, each audience member illuminated a cell phone or some kind of light in a show of support.
