Trendy Gulch club Bar Twenty3 will close after Halloween
After five years of attracting hipsters to the Gulch, Bar Twenty3 will shut down on Halloween, the second Gulch spot to announce it’s closing in the last few months.
Concert venue City Hall also announced it’ll be shutting down soon.
It’s too bad those places couldn’t hold on long enough for all the condo parks being built around there to open.
Bar Twenty3 was on fire when it opened, with long lines and velvet ropes. But as happens with most Nashville clubs (and usually a lot sooner than five years), the crowds couldn’t be sustained as hipsters look for the next great scene.
Co-owner Benjamin Goldberg said in a statement:
“We figured if we created a space different from anything else Nashvillians had ever experienced, the people would come. And they did.
“The bar has sustained a constant clientele and retained an incredible staff. But with the expiration of the lease, we made the choice to close Bar Twenty3 as it is now—a popular, well-loved nightspot that helped to accelerate the club scene in Nashville.”
Among the celebs to hang there: Paris Hilton, Nicole Ritchie, Kid Rock, Ja Rule, magician David Blaine and Stephanie Langston.
The annual Halloween party will be the club’s last blowout.
