Music Row to open a retirement home for its elderly
Some folks have been working on this for 18 years, but now, they’re far enough along that they gathered Martina McBride, Jim Ed Brown and others and had a press conference today.
The Crescendo at Westhaven will be $95 million, 15-acre compound in the upscale Westhaven community of Franklin. And yes, it’s geared toward those in the music biz, but it’ll be open to anyone ages 62 or older.
And it won’t be cheap. The apartments range from $300,000 to the around $600,000. Zoinks!
But part of this complex will be providing help to those who might need financial assistance. Music Row leaders have created the Crescendo Music Community Fund for “qualified music industry retirees.”
Martina said in a statement: “There are people who might work for an artist for 20 or 25 years, and when the artist retires, they may be without a job. A lot of these people, through no fault of their own, have not been able to plan for their futures.
“Some of the folks who work tirelessly behind the scenes might need our support, adn that’s what we want to provide.”
Organizers hope to break ground in 2011, and open it two years later.
