Brooks & Dunn’s Reba prank really stinks
by J. Woodbury on Oct.13, 2008, under Country music
It turns out that Kix Brooks, Ronnie Dunn and Reba McEntire have a very colorful past together.
At tonight’s ASCAP Awards, while honoring Reba with the Golden Note award, one-time tourmates Brooks & Dunn shared a story of a prank they pulled on Reba — and it went terribly wrong.
In 1994, Reba started a prank war by throwing a pie in Kix’s face. In retaliation, Brooks & Dunn had a stink bomb explode on her while she was switching stages in the middle of a performance.
And, evidently, these were not just normal stink bombs. One of these smelly things made Travis Tritt throw up earlier.
Reba, smelling like something similar to rancid eggs, walked through the crowd to get back to the main stage.
Needless to say, her fans had an interesting reaction to the smell. One guy even dumped four beers on her by accident.
Brooks and Dunn say that Reba was highly ticked off for the rest of the show and joked that they haven’t really spoken since that tour.
“She hates us!” says Kix.
The crowd roared.

I can’t believe Reba threw a pie at Kix — she’s always stated that she stays away from the tour pranks. She has told a story about Kix, while singing a song with her on stage during the tour, was spitting in her face and she told him afterward that if he didn’t stop that, that she would have to get a rain slicker to wear while they performed. The next tour stop, Brooks & Dunn gave her a yellow rain slicker/hat to wear while they did their song together! I think Reba’s probably a really good sport about things like the stink-bomb prank and I’m sure she didn’t really get made at Brooks & Dunn!

oh i bet she did get mad. yeah she is a good sport i’m sure. she is a wonderful, kind, respectful person, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have times where the negative side comes out. I love Reba though, and have much respect for her. I imagine touring with Brooks and Dunn was really fun. I can totally see Reba playing along with the pranks! she is really a great person!
