Taylor Swift beats out Archuleta, T-Pain for top sales spot
Taylor Swift had a HUGE opening week for her new album, Fearless. How huge?
She sold 592,000 copies, the biggest opening week for a country album since nThe Eagles Long Road Out of Eden sold 711,000 in its debut a year ago.
Taylor stomped all comers: Finishing at No. 2 was Idol runner-up David Archuleta, whose self-titled album sold only about one-third of what Taylor’s did in its debut week.
Not only that, but Taylor sold 129,000 album downloads — and that’s the fourth highest weeklong total since Nielsen SoundScan started keeping track of online sales four years ago.
