Point of Grace — Christian, country, rap!?

pog350Hey everyone! Intern Justine here!

The lovely ladies of Point of Grace (How You Live) have shifted their music from Christian to country, but haven’t forgotten their roots.

Point of Grace have been around for almost 18 years and they are still going strong. Once a quartet, the original members Shelley Breen, Denise Jones, Terry Jones, and Heather Payne  revolutionized Christian music with a twist of pop back in the 90’s. Terry Jones and Heather Payne both left the group to take on the job of being  full time mothers, as well as gain a new and current member Leigh Cappillino.

The trio have had so far 27 #1 radio singles, and plan on increasing the count. The ladies have now moved into the country realm, where they are currently working on a new country album.

“We’ve always wanted to sing songs that encouraged people, give them hope and for us, in this time frame, to allow us a new audience has been really neat,” says Denise.

In fact, their Christian fans are supporting the trio with the transition to country.

“For us, it’s just not manipulated, it’s what we grew up listening to and what we grew up appreciating because it is about real life, and real life put to melody is country music,” says Leigh.

“The timing of all of this is good because faith based songs, songs about God are huge on country music radio now,” says Shelley.

Looks like the ladies are going to have a smooth transition to country, but are there other genres in the works?

“We’ve taken the country music by storm, and that’s over now, so now we’re going onto rap,” jokes Shelley.

Some songs from the trio include How You Live and their current single King of the World.
