Ronnie Milsap screams and shouts outside Capitol label

by Brad on Oct.01, 2009, under Country music

And I’m not kidding: Round two of Ronnie Milsap’s protest against Capitol Records was equal part funny and intense.

Ronnie got in a Mayberry-type old school police car today — complete with bullhorn and speakers — and circled Capitol Records, shouting, singing and yelling while a handful of protestors picketed on the sidewalk.

Ronnie continues to be upset that Capitol is trying to block his latest single, My First Ride, from country radio airplay. Capitol is doing so because the song is a duet with Capitol artist Trace Adkins, and Capitol doesn’t want the duet competing for radio airplay with any of Trace’s solo radio singles.

Ronnie and his new indie label, Bleve Records, have pledged proceeds from the single and Ronnie’s upcoming album will go to relief funds for police and firefighters involved in disasters, such as 9-11 and Hurricane Katrina.

Persistent, Ronnie?

“Ha ha ha! That’s for sure. I’ve always been. Im’ a Capricorn, so I just keep climbing the hill,” Ronnie told me today.

Capitol and Trace have both remained silent on the controversy.
