Hey, hey it’s intern Kerri!

It was a historic night at the Grand Ole Opry house. Tonight, Carrie Underwood, and other stars gathered to turn the Opry pink in support of the Susan G. Komen foundation. At the beginning of the show, Carrie came on stage (dressed in pink, of course) and flipped the switch to turn the house pink!

Carrie said while no one in her family has been affected by breast cancer, it’s still important to support the cause. She told Music City TV,

“Some of us are here because they’ve been through it and they support each other. Some of us are here, because we don’t want go though it so, we’re here to support also, the women who have lived through cancer.”

Robin Roberts, co-host of Good Morning America and a breast cancer survivor herself, also came out to the Opry. She sat down with Music City TV and talked to us about her successful battle against cancer. She told Music City TV, “I’m so proud. I’m so grateful for everyone who has shared their story with me[...]It’s really an honor to not only be a survivor, but to thrive. I wanna thrive, not just survive.”

While the show was really exciting, it was also an emotional night. During the show, names of survivors of breast cancer appeared on the screen, as well names of those who lost their battles.

Country star, Terri Clark, performed for the show, too. She had reasons close to home for taking part in the show,

“My mom has been battling cancer for three years now. She’s been given a terminal diagnoses. It’s not breast cancer, but cancer is cancer to me. It’s the same disease. It shows up in different forms, different parts of your body and this is one that’s really affecting a lot of women and I’m a woman so why would I not be here?”

They also presented the Greater Nashville Honorary Survivor of the Year award to Tracie Shelby during the show.

There were two pink Opry shows tonight and a portion of the ticket sales will go to benefit the Susan G. Komen foundation.
