So it turns out that Dierks Bentley has a connection to the Fort Hood hero, police Sgt. Kimberly Munley, who is credited with stopping the gunman at Fort Hood yesterday.

National media started using a picture of her and Dierks that was apparently taken when he performed at Fort Hood this past 4th of July, that she had posted on her Twitter page July 8th.

Dierks tweeted his reaction when he first found out about the connection, “http://twitpic.com/ohe99 - friend Jordan sent me this pic today.we played ft hood 7/4.I want a meet and greet with her now. hero&brave soldier.”

While they may have no reunited in person yet, Dierks did tweet 2 hours later that they had spoken,”[I] was able to speak to sgt munley & pass along my prayers for a speedy recovering. she’s tough! and couldn’t be more nice or humble.real hero.”

Dierks has given an interview to ABC’s Charles Gibson that will air on an upcoming episode of Nightline.
