AMA shocker: Nashville’s Gloriana beats out Lady Gaga

Ah, the power of the country music fan — especially those armed with computers and cell phones.
The American Music Awards always have a fan-voted “Breakthrough Artist of the Year.” Votes are taken all the way through the show, until that award is given.
And country group Gloriana – mostly known now as a Taylor Swift opening act — beat out Lady Gaga (Pop/Rock), Keri Hilson (Soul/R&B) and Kid Cudi (Rap/Hip-Hop).
Gloriana (Wild at Heart) thought that maybe not many would know who they were, so when they hit the stage, one of the Gloriana guys, Tom Gossin, said:
“Can we get a show of hands from everyone who said, ‘Who the heck is Gloriana?’”
Many hands went up.
Congrats, Gloriana.
