Fer real? Bruce Springsteen show doesn’t sell out

In fact, as of this afternoon, you could still get tickets on the arena floor for the Bruce Springsteen Sommet Center show Aug. 21.

Sommet Center folks told me they had a “really strong” first weekend of ticket sales, but I couldn’t get any specific numbers.

All I do know is there are many seats left.

And concert promoters apparently have opened up seats behind the stage to accomodate what they are calling a 360-degree show.

The non-sellout isn’t a total surprise:

Bruce didn’t sell out on the first weekend of sales for his 2000 Nashville arena show either.

Booted Tim McGraw fan says he did nothing wrong

Remember that crazy video of Tim McGraw and his crew pulling a dude out of the crowd and kicking him out?

Tim’s publicist says he thought the guy had attacked a female fan. The guy, Marcus Nirschl, 30, tells CMT that no such thing happened, and he is still puzzled about the whole shebang.

“I didn’t hit nobody. I’m the nicest guy you’ll ever meet,” he told CMT.

Marcus says he was getting shoved on the way to his seat and he might’ve inadvertently knocked into some fans when he lost his balance.

Furthermore, dude thought Tim was being friendly when he reached out.

“I really thought he wanted to pull me onstage for some dancing and stuff,” he said.

No charges have been filed, and Marcus still declares that he’s a big Tim McGraw fan.

Seen in the City: Here’s Miley Cyrus raw and unedited!

So you love the Miley Cyrus.

You’ve heard she was a surprise guest at a Franklin fund-raiser Sunday night.

You wish you could’ve been there.

Now, thanks to Colin Lewis of JeffreySteele.com, you can see her.

Check it out as Miley performs two Jeffrey Steele songs. The first is called Simple Song.

The second, Miley sings with Jeffrey, and it’s called Hollywood Girl.

Miley Cyrus - RAW

Seen in the City: Miley Cyrus surprise guest in Franklin

OMG! Fer real? lol!

Miley Cyrus dropped in unannounced on an outdoor skate festival/fund-raiser Sunday night at Jim Warren Park in Franklin.

This was the Alex LeVasseur Memorial Skate Festival, held in memory of Alex, who died last year at age 14 in an ATV accident. It was put on by his singer/songwriter dad, Jeffrey Steele, who also is a Nashville Star judge.

And as you know, Billy Ray Cyrus is the host of Nashville Star, so, voila!, surprise appearances by both Miley and Billy Ray.

Miley, with political correctness, sang two Jeffrey Steele songs, the first called Simple Song, which Miley apparently has recorded. The second is what she calls her favorite Jeffrey Steele song, Hollywood Girl, and she put Jeffrey on the spot and the two sang it together.

I’m told all the kids in the skate park rushed to the stage when they spotted Miley. Pandemonium on wheels!

By the way, Billy Ray sang — you guessed it — Achy Breaky Heart, and a cool version of Amazing Grace. How sweet the sound.

Cher came here just for the Merle Haggard show

Mystery solved: Turns out Cher is in town because one of her best L.A. buddies is a huge Merle Haggard fan, and Cher wanted to surprise her friend by taking him to the Hag show tonight.

Cher’s friend is jeweler-to-the-stars Richard Starks, creator of the Chrome Hearts line, for you fashionistas.

Cher booked a private jet and told Richard and his wife she had a surprise for them and they took off without Richard knowing where he was going.

Cher and Richard and their significant others spent significant time with Merle before the show. Then the Cher posse sat six rows back, center, for the actual Ryman show itself.

Other celebs in the house: Jewel and her bull-rider champ man, Ty Murray; country couple Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert; Gretchen Wilson; and John Anderson.

Tim McGraw seen manhandling a fan at a show, but….

Check it out for yourself, from TMZ.com, by clicking here.

Tim calls for security, drags dude on stage and it looks like he’s about to swing at him at one point.

So what’s up?

His Nashville-based publicist, Jessie Schmidt (no relation), sent me (and lots of other media types) this statement:

“While Tim was performing at the White River Amphitheater in Auburn, Washington last night, he watched a man rush to the front of the stage. This overly aggressive fan attacked a female fan and Tim witnessed this incident.

“Tim called for security, but when they could not respond quick enough Tim and several crew members removed the fan from the audience where he was then turned over to the local authorities.”

“Squid brains”? Kanye West slams Bonnaroo and fans

The Hotness is a huge fan, but if Kanye West has enough money for such a spectacular stage set, why doesn’t he spend a little money making his blog look like he’s got some?

Remember than Bonnaroo fans were upset that Kanye went on almost two hours late, throwing glow sticks and booing and being angry that he started at 4:30 a.m. when it was supposed to start at 2:30.

If you want to read the rest of Kanye’s long-winded rant against Bonnaroo and angry fans, go check it out, but make sure you have a box of tissues handy. It will make you weep.

I am  sick of negative  people who just sit around trying 2 plot my downfall… Why????  I understand if people don’t like me because I like me or if people think tight clothes look gay or people say I run my mouth to much,  But this Bonnaroo thing is the worst insult I’ve ever had in my life. This is the most offended I’ve ever been… this is the maddest I ever will be.  I’m typing so f…ing hard I might break my f…ing Mac book Air!!!!!!!!   Call me any name you want…. arrogant, conceited, narcissistic, racist, metro, fag whatever you can think of….  BUT NEVER SAY I DIDN’T GIVE MY ALL!   NEVER SAY I DIDN’T GIVE MY ALL!  THIS SHOWS NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY  TO BE GOOD AT SOMETHING THERE WILL BE PEOPLE THERE TO LIE ABOUT YOU AND BRING YOU DOWN!  LIKE WAYNE SAYS PLEASE DON’T SHOOT ME DOWN CAUSE I’M FLYING!  I’M F…ING HURT BY THIS ONE. ALL I CARE ABOUT ARE THE FANS.  JUST SAY THIS OUT LOUD IN  A ROOM FULL OF PEOPLE, “KANYE DOESN’T CARE ABOUT GIVING A GOOD PERFORMANCE.”  CAN ANYONE HONESTLY SAY THAT ?????????      HAS ANYONE EVEN TAKEN THE TIME TO AT LEAST  DO THE MATH???  BONNAROO SHOULD HAVE RELEASED A STATEMENT IN MY DEFENSE BUT SINCE THEY HAVEN’T LET’S BREAK DOWN THE WALLS ON THIS TRUMAN SHOW AND LET YOU KNOW WHAT REALLY OCCURRED!!!   FOR OVER A MONTH WE WENT BACK AND FORTH ON WETHER OR NOT WE COULD EVEN FIT MY STAGE AT THE FESTIVAL. ONE DAY THEY WOULD SAY YES… WE’D SEND THEM OUR SPECS THEN THEY THEY’D SAY OK… THEN THEY WOULD SEND SPECS BACK THAT DIDN’T FIT THE STAGE. WE WERE OBVIOUSLY DEALING WITH F…ING IDIOTS WHO DIDN’T REALLY HAVE THE CAPACITY TO REALLY PUT ON THIS SHOW PROPERLY.  THEY TRIED 2 GIVE ME A TIME SLOT WERE IT WAS STILL LIGHT OUTSIDE … I HAVE A F…ING LIGHT SHOW DUMB A.., IT’S NOT CALLED GLOW IN THE DARK FOR NO REASON SQUID BRAINS!  MY PEOPLE WORKED OUT A COMPROMISED STAGE PLOT AND A 3AM TIME SLOT AND I AGREED.   FAST FOWARD TO THE DAY OF THE SHOW. MY PRODUCTION MANAGER TRIED TO LOAD IN FOR 24 HOURS BEFORE I WENT ON STAGE BUT THE FESTIVAL WOULDN’T ALLOW US TO DO ANYTHING UNTILL PEARL JAM LEFT THE STAGE. PEARL JAM ENDED ONE HOUR
LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Bonnaroo response didn’t really directly address anything Kanye blogged, but here ’tis:

“Over seven years of presenting the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, we have successfully presented hundreds of the top artists in the world. Our world- class-event production team strives to accommodate the needs of every performer. We will continue to present the highest level of production while representing the best interests of our audience, staff and performers.”

Love Merle Haggard and the environment? Got $1,000?

Well, I’ve got a deal for you!

Merle Haggard doesn’t get into town much, but he’ll be here Wednesday night for a show at the Ryman (for which there are very few tix left.)

Before that, though, Merle and Vince Gill will host a $1,000-a-plate lunch as a fund-raiser for the Green Train Foundation, which, as you might’ve guessed, is raising awareness about environmental issues across the country.

You can actually go, and if you’d like to, call Paige Dixon at 742-3193.

Lunch will, of course, be organic, and there’s tasty wine and you’ll hear a little about the Green Train from conductor Bob Wolf.

Word is that Big Kenny of Big & Rich and Steve Cropper (co-writer of Sitting on the Dock of the Bay) will also drop by.

Nicole Kidman has Chicago sing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her

OK, we’ve found the baby bump.

You saw the Vogue pics of Nicole Kidman and went, “Uh, eight months pregnant? She’s soooooooo thin!”

Now there’s a video on YouTube where indeed, you can see a baby bump.

Keith Urban told 5,000 folks at Chicago’s Soldier Field Saturday night that Nicole had just had a birthday the day before.

“So it would be nice to have 50,000 people sing Happy Birthday to her,” Keith told the crowd, according to several different media sources.

Nicole, on the big screens, blew a kiss to the crowd.
