Reba, Wynonna, Yolanda to play fund-raiser Saturday

reba_mcentire.jpgAnd I’m sorry to say it’s already sold out.

The event is called Divas Nashvegas, and Reba McEntire is the big headliner.

She’s bringing along her Reba TV show co-star, Melissa Peterman, a.k.a. Barbara Jean on the show, to host the event.

Also singing: Wynonna and gospel singer Yolanda Adams.

All the money goes to the Oasis Center, which helps troubled teens.

An ex-Beatle is gonna Starr at the Wildhorse

ringo.jpgAnd there’s a little bit of a Nashville connection.

Remember at the Grammys that Ringo Starr gave Vince Gill his best country album trophy?

Not only that, but Nashville singer/songwriter extraordinaire Gary Burr has often played in Ringo’s road band in the last several years.

So really, Ringo could go Twango at his show July 6 at the Wildhorse Saloon.

After all, isn’t Yellow Submarine one fiddle away from country radio?

No on-sale date yet for the tickets.

Paramore, T-Pain to play riverfront Crawfish Boil

Vince Gill helps raise $100,000 for his old school

vince.jpgThey laughed, they cried, they loved their hometown hero coming back to Oklahoma City, to the Cleveland Arts & Science Specialty School, where Vince Gill, at age 7, gave his first public performance. (He sang House of the Rising Sun, in case you were wondering.)

Vince played at his old school for a fund-raiser for and Oklahoma City public school auditorium, which will be called, you guessed it, Vince Gill Auditorium.

“The real beauty of this event is that this is the first place I played guitar and sang in front of anybody of my whole life. Even though it is nice to have a night to honor me, I’m coming home to do something for someone else and make it more than just about me,” Vince said in a statement.

Some 228 fans paid $495 each to be there.

The Oklahoma governor and one-time Oklahoma football coach Barry Switzer were among those in the crowd.

Vince took requests shouted out from the crowd, and among the requests was one for his wife, Amy Grant, to sing, which she did, with their sleeping toddler in her lap.

Kid Rock at Ryman Wednesday night?

kidrockarrested1.jpgLooks like Kid Rock will be a surprise guest at a fund-raiser show Wednesday night at the Ryman.

That show is Sam Moore & Friends. It’s a fund-raiser for a charity that helps battle brain disease in kids.

Kid Rock and Sam Moore were together last night at the Palm restaurant and at 12th & Porter Music Club.

A Kid Rock publicist has suggested Kid Rock might stop by Moore’s fund-raiser show.

Also on the bill — Travis Tritt, Wynonna, Lorrie Morgan and Jo Dee Messina.

And those are just the confirmed acts. There are also rumors about Alison Krauss and John Waite (Missing You) showing up.

Tickets are still available at Ryman.com.

Pearl Jam, Kanye, Metallica to play Bonnaroo

kanyewest2.jpgBut you WON’T see legendary rock band Led Zeppelin, as has long been rumored.
