No more kids! ‘Hannah Montana’ movie wants adults

As you can imagine, the Hannah Montana movie makers got all the kids they needed during that open casting call a few weeks ago at the arena.

Now they need the grown-ups. No, not for baby-sitting, but to fill some roles as extras.

In particular, producers wants townspeople, upscale shoppers, wait staff and blue-collar types. They especially want minorities and those ages 50 and older.

To apply, go to Film.Tennessee.Gov and click on “bulletin board.”

The filming happens May through June, and yes, you’ll be paid, although extras usually don’t make a whole lot of money.

William H. Macy jokes that Jews fund Hollywood

Uncomfortable!

William H. Macy (Fargo) was in town Thursday night to screen his new indie film, The Deal, a romantic comedy co-starring Meg Ryan. The movie is a spoof about Hollywood movie-making, and filmmakers poke fun at all Hollywood stereotypes.

To that extent, Macy wore a yarmulke, a Jewish skull cap, on the red carpet outside Regal Green Hills Cinemas.

And he told me why: “Because it’s a gag. Because it’s a film about making film. And it’d be tough to have showbiz without Jews, wouldn’t it? I mean, they’re the funniest people on Earth. And they also fund the whole thing.”

Wow.

Nashville Film Festival organizers insisted that Macy was “being silly” when he told me that, and he was continuing to poke fun at Hollywood stereotypes.

Those comments aside, it was truly a William H. Macy lovefest on the red carpet, and I’m happy to say Macy stopped and chatted with fans and signed autographs for dozens of folks who came out to greet him.

Also on the carpet: Emerson Drive, cable TV motorcycle maker Wild Bill, Titans placekicker Rob Bironas, beautiful country sister trio Carter’s Chord, singer/songwriter Jessi Alexander and others.

So you wanna be in the Hannah Montana movie?

mileyoscars.jpgWho doesn’t??

They’re looking for extras Sunday at the Sommet Center. And here’s the thing: You MUST bring a picture of yourself, no bigger than 4 x 6 inches. No picture, no consideration.

They’re looking for extras of all ages, no experience required.

Kids must have a parent with them, and said parent must be willing to work with the child.

The filming starts May 6 in the Nashville area.

This could be absolutely bananas on Sunday, so ya might wanna get there early. It happens 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Good luck! And please lemme know if ya get a role. It’s brad@wkrn.com if you haven’t e-mailed me before.

William H. Macy is comin’ to town

williamhmacymegryan.jpgYes, William H. Macy, the nervous car salesman in Coen Brothers movie Fargo, is heading to Music City.

Macy is taking his latest movie, The Deal, on the film festival circuit, so that means he’ll screen it April 17, the opening night of the Nashville Film Festival at the Regal Green Hills Cinemas.

The movie The Deal is about a Hollywood producer (Macy) who tries to revive his career by putting an action film star in a biopic about a 19th Century British prime minister. He stars in it with Meg Ryan, L.L. Cool J. and Jason Ritter (Country Music Hall of Famer Tex Ritter’s grandson and the late actor John Ritter’s son).

The Deal director Steven Schachter also will be here for the screening.
