Giddy up! Rodeo rides into town for Poison concert
Yes, Rodeo, as in single mom Rodeo from season one of VH1’s Rock of Love, where Poison lead singer Bret Michaels tries to find love.
So a Brad spy was sitting in a suite (sniff sniff!) at the Sommet Center for last night’s Poison show and spotted Rodeo — in black hat, shot denim cut-offs and skimpy white top — in a second-level seat.
Second level seat? That’s pretty unimpressive for someone who has smooched Bret Michaels on national TV, no? Then again, that’s getting to be a pretty long list. I digress.
So my spy screamed the name “Rodeo” a few times, and she finally turned her cowboy hatted head around. The spy invited Rodeo and her posse to the suite, belonging to a local health care company.
By the way, yes, I said posse. Rodeo — real name, Cindy Steedle — travels with a manager and a friend. (Some manager. Got her crappy seats. But I digress again.)
Rodeo and posse took up the invite, and spent the rest of the show in the suite, chatting with the quasi-rich folk and posing for pics and signing autographs for all who were interested.
What’s new with Rodeo? She’s on a new show called I Love Money. Uh, and that’s about all I know.
Seen in the City: Nick Carter’s back, all right!
Backstreet Boy Nick Carter is nutty for Nashville!
We’ve had several sightings in the last couple of years, even beyond when the Backstreet Boys made their new album in Franklin.
On Saturday, Nick was spotted by my Brad spy, codename: Special K, at the Cool Springs Galleria.
Special K reports that Nick looked like he just finished playing a basketball game: He had on hoops shorts and high tops with a white T-shirt.
He pulled up in a white Lincoln truck, and Nick was rolling with a dude.
No word on what he was buying.
Barbershop society makes 7th Ave. sound great today
I know, I know, you think barbershop quartets are tragically unhip — and you’re probably right.
But these guys categorically embrace the old four-part harmony style of singing, and they could probably care less if the cool kids like it.
Thousands of members of the Barbershop Harmony Society are having their international convention here through Saturday.
And many of them gathered in front of the new society headquarters at 7th and Broad around 10 this morning for a group sing.
And they sounded pretty dang good.
Here are some highlights that you’re gonna love!
Fer real.
Listen to your Heart: Rockers to play the Wildhorse
Heart (Crazy On You) are on tour playing big shows with Journey and Cheap Trick this summer.
But Ann and Nancy Wilson – pictured here with Fergie in a recent American Idol performance — will break off the tour for a special show Aug. 9 at the Wildhorse Saloon.
Heart has been around town quite a bit in the past few years, doing projects with Wynonna and Gretchen Wilson.
But Heart’s publicist says it was Nashville fans who insisted on the one-off show here.
That doesn’t mean one or two of Heart’s Nashville friends might not pop up at the Wildhorse show….
Miley Cyrus has had her California coffee flown in weekly
Put the words “Miley Cyrus coffee” in Google Images, and you’ll see dozens of pics of Miley clutching an iced coffee from an L.A.-based chain called Coffee Bean.
To be specific, Miley likes a “mocha caramel ice blended,” which, by the way, runs $3.50-$4.85.
Problem is, she can’t get that exact drink here, and Miley has been in middle Tennessee for
So what’s a girl to do? Why, bring California to Nashville, of course!
Miley apparently has had local movie caterers fly in all the ingredients from Coffee Bean headquarters each week.
Seen in the City: Miley Cyrus turns up at The Factory
Miley Cyrus popped up today at The Factory in Franklin, where the well-heeled Williamson Countians go for an upscale quaint country shopping experience. (Did I mention there’s a day spa in The Factory? Sniff sniff.)
Seems the Hannah Montana movie calls for Hannah to wander around to the stores, recalling memories that each evoked. (”Ooooooo, that dress store is where I got my prom dress….”)
But today, Miley wandered off script and jumped into an ice cream store and started serving scoops to little fans who had gathered.
Miley also spent 30 or 45 minutes at a pottery-making place.
And then she actually spent 10-15 minutes signing autographs for the tots, as seen here.
See there? She IS a good ol’ Tennessee girl.
Taylor Swift and Def Leppard to do joint CMT taping
Can you believe that?
You might be hip to the CMT Crossroads series, which pairs a country artist with a non-country artist. They’ve had John Fogerty with Keith Urban; Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire; Joss Stone and LeAnn Rimes; Robert Plant and Alison Krauss; and Maroon 5 and Sara Evans.
The latest pairing is young fresh Taylor Swift and the not-as-young (or fresh) Def Leppard (Pour Some Sugar On Me.)
“Every time I’ve seen Crossroads on CMT I’ve always thought, ‘If I ever get to do one of those, it HAS to be with Def Leppard!,’ so this is really a dream come true for me,” Taylor said in a statement.
“I have been screaming the words to Def Leppard songs for years…so it’s amazing that I’m going to get to share a stage with them this year!”
The taping will be here in October, and it debuts Nov. 8.
Reports: Rock singer exposes himself at Rocketown
From WKRN.com:
The lead singer of a local rock band is facing accusations he exposed himself to a crowd of teens and adults at a Nashville music venue.
Deborah Burnett, a security worker at Rocketown, was in the crowd Friday night during a performance by the Legendary Shack Shakers when lead singer Joshua Wilkes reportedly opened his pants and exposed his genitals.
Rocketown is a Christian-based teen entertainment complex that provides a safe, alcohol and drug free environment for youth to enjoy concerts, classes, videogames and skateboarding, according to its Web site.
Both teens and adults were the audience at the time of the alleged incident.
Burnett filed the complaint with police.
New Musicians Hall of Fame duo: Peter & The Possum
Yes, that’s rock god Peter Frampton joining country icon George Jones at the Musicians Hall of Fame today to announce the new inductees.
I love that George took times to sign autographs for fans afterward.
I also love that Peter, who moved out of Nashville a decade or so ago, still makes frequent trips to Nashville, both for business and just to visit friends. Some of Frampton’s fave Nashville spots — Vandy area barbecue joint South Street and Hillsboro Village eatery Sunset Grill.
Booker T., Crickets, Al Kooper to rock Schermerhorn
The best part about the Musicians Hall of Fame inductions is that they do a show where inductees rock.
This year’s show/inductees:
Booker T. and the MGs (which includes Nashville’s Steve “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay” Cropper; The Memphis Horns; The Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section; The Crickets; Al Kooper; and producer/songwriter/musician extraordinaire Billy Sherrill, who has worked lots with George Jones.
That show happens Oct. 28 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
Tix are $50 to $200, and you can get them through the Nashville Symphony Web site.
Oh, and is the Hotness scaring anyone else?
