Designer Monique Lhuillier to do Schermerhorn show
No, she won’t be performing a concerto.
But Monique Lhuillier – a household name among fashionistas — will do a fashion show at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center next year.
This runway-in-the-Schermerhorn thang is nothing new. Oscar de la Renta has put on two such shows so far.
Monique will be showing off her 2009 Fall Collection, which apparently is so impressive that they used capital letters for “Fall Collection.” Local connection: Monique designed the wedding gown for the youngest Gore daughter, Sarah Gore Lee.
The event is a fund-raiser for the Nashville Symphony at the Thor Johnson Scholarship Fund.

Booker T., Crickets, Al Kooper to rock Schermerhorn
The best part about the Musicians Hall of Fame inductions is that they do a show where inductees rock.
This year’s show/inductees:
Booker T. and the MGs (which includes Nashville’s Steve “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay” Cropper; The Memphis Horns; The Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section; The Crickets; Al Kooper; and producer/songwriter/musician extraordinaire Billy Sherrill, who has worked lots with George Jones.
That show happens Oct. 28 at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
Tix are $50 to $200, and you can get them through the Nashville Symphony Web site.
Oh, and is the Hotness scaring anyone else?
Oscar de la Renta in Nashville? I know, right?
The Nashville society and fashion crowds were all a-twitter Tuesday night as fashion icon Oscar de la Renta his own self showed at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center for a fund-raiser fashion show.
There were a handful of celebs as well, as Rascal Flatts hosted, and singers-songwriters Billy Dean and Jennifer Hanson were in the crowd.
The event raised more than $200,000 for the Nashville Symphony’s music education programs.
Mr. de la Renta confirms he’s designing Jenna Bush’s wedding gown, but he said very little about it, other than it’s going to be a country wedding, and Jenna looks great in his gown.
He also says he’s a big Johnny Cash fan — but never bought his music until after he saw the biopic Walk the Line.
Mr. de la Renta, though, not so familiar with Nashville’s iconic country couture designer who put Johnny Cash in black.
“Manuel?” he said, shaking his head.
