Seen in the City: Nick Carter's back, all right!
Backstreet Boy Nick Carter is nutty for Nashville!
We’ve had several sightings in the last couple of years, even beyond when the Backstreet Boys made their new album in Franklin.
On Saturday, Nick was spotted by my Brad spy, codename: Special K, at the Cool Springs Galleria.
Special K reports that Nick looked like he just finished playing a basketball game: He had on hoops shorts and high tops with a white T-shirt.
He pulled up in a white Lincoln truck, and Nick was rolling with a dude.
No word on what he was buying.
Nicole gives birth to baby girl!
Think her water broke at Border’s? (See below.)
Nicole Kidman has given birth to a baby girl in Nashville.
In a statement, Keith Urban’s publicist said:
"Nicole and Keith Urban are delighted to announce that Nicole Kidman gave birth to a baby girl on Monday morning, July 7, 2008, in the United States. Sunday Rose Kidman Urban weighed six pounds, seven-and-a-half ounces. Husband Keith was by Nicole’s side and mother and baby are very well."
A statement on Keith’s Web site thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers.
“We feel very blessed and grateful that we can share this joy with all of you today,” the Web site said.
Seen in the City: Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman at Border's
Looks like Keith Urban likes to unwind after playing a Kenny Chesney stadium show by taking the uber-pregnant wife, Nicole Kidman, to a bookstore.
Keith and Nicole popped into the Border’s on West End Avenue around 4:50 p.m. Sunday to pick up a few magazines.
“She was touching her belly. She has one. But she’s definitely still tiny,” one Brad spy reports.
Nicole was in a strapless black dress with black cardigan sweater, curls pulled back into a little pony tail. Keith was sporting a plaid shirt and black cap and jeans.
The Brad spy reports they looked quite lovey dovey, as Nicole put her arms around his shoulders and kissed him as he paid.
“She was loving on him,” the spy said. “It was cute.”
Seen in the City: Miley Cyrus turns up at The Factory
Miley Cyrus popped up today at The Factory in Franklin, where the well-heeled Williamson Countians go for an upscale quaint country shopping experience. (Did I mention there’s a day spa in The Factory? Sniff sniff.)
Seems the Hannah Montana movie calls for Hannah to wander around to the stores, recalling memories that each evoked. (”Ooooooo, that dress store is where I got my prom dress….”)
But today, Miley wandered off script and jumped into an ice cream store and started serving scoops to little fans who had gathered.
Miley also spent 30 or 45 minutes at a pottery-making place.
And then she actually spent 10-15 minutes signing autographs for the tots, as seen here.
See there? She IS a good ol’ Tennessee girl.
New Musicians Hall of Fame duo: Peter & The Possum
Yes, that’s rock god Peter Frampton joining country icon George Jones at the Musicians Hall of Fame today to announce the new inductees.
I love that George took times to sign autographs for fans afterward.
I also love that Peter, who moved out of Nashville a decade or so ago, still makes frequent trips to Nashville, both for business and just to visit friends. Some of Frampton’s fave Nashville spots — Vandy area barbecue joint South Street and Hillsboro Village eatery Sunset Grill.
Kimberly Williams-Paisley visits local Boys & Girls Club
Do you think Kimberly Williams-Paisley (Father of the Bride, According to Jim) is the cutest super-cute cutie in the history of humans who are cute? Me too!!
She is completely flawless, and I have finally forgiven her for marrying the wrong Brad. But I digress.
Kimberly helped serve lunch at the Vine Hill Boys & Girls Club today. She’s trying to draw attention to the fact that those low-income kids who get free lunches at school also need lunches during the summer.
Kimberly says the U.S. Ag Dept. has grants for churches and other non-profits who want to step in and help feed these young ‘uns, and she wants to encourage those groups to apply for those funds.
Meanwhile, here’s cute Kimberly with cute kids.
Seen in the City: Here's Miley Cyrus raw and unedited!
So you love the Miley Cyrus.
You’ve heard she was a surprise guest at a Franklin fund-raiser Sunday night.
You wish you could’ve been there.
Now, thanks to Colin Lewis of JeffreySteele.com, you can see her.
Check it out as Miley performs two Jeffrey Steele songs. The first is called Simple Song.
The second, Miley sings with Jeffrey, and it’s called Hollywood Girl.

Miley Cyrus dropped in unannounced on an outdoor skate festival/fund-raiser Sunday night at Jim Warren Park in Franklin.
This was the Alex LeVasseur Memorial Skate Festival, held in memory of Alex, who died last year at age 14 in an ATV accident. It was put on by his singer/songwriter dad, Jeffrey Steele, who also is a Nashville Star judge.
And as you know, Billy Ray Cyrus is the host of Nashville Star, so, voila!, surprise appearances by both Miley and Billy Ray.
Miley, with political correctness, sang two Jeffrey Steele songs, the first called Simple Song, which Miley apparently has recorded. The second is what she calls her favorite Jeffrey Steele song, Hollywood Girl, and she put Jeffrey on the spot and the two sang it together.
I’m told all the kids in the skate park rushed to the stage when they spotted Miley. Pandemonium on wheels!
By the way, Billy Ray sang — you guessed it — Achy Breaky Heart, and a cool version of Amazing Grace. How sweet the sound.

We’ve seen OAIC (Original American Idol champ) Kelly Clarkson around town a lot lately.
You might remember she was at John Rich’s monthly talent contest at 12th & Porter last month.
Sunday night, Kelly was at the Country Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony for the Statler Brothers and Tom T. Hall.
Kelly was hanging out with her bestest country gal pal Reba McEntire, who was there for a singing tribute to the Statler Brothers.
Kelly did not sing for the Statler Brothers.
Hilarious! Tom T. Hall, Statlers laugh into Hall of Fame
The Statler Brothers (My Only Love) and Tom T. Hall (I Love) both received medallions in an official induction ceremony at the Country Music Hall of Fame. And they were funny as all get out!
Tom T. Hall told me on the red carpet:
“In about three, four days from now I’ll be standing out by my barn feeding my chickens or something. And I’ll think of all these witty clever, charming things to say,” he said. “And by that time, nobody’ll want to hear them.”
The Statler Brothers were asked if they’d seen their bronze plaques yet.
“I thought we had to carve our own,” Harold Reid said.
Fun fact: Only two of the guys are brothers, and their last name ain’t Statler, which instead comes from the name of a tissue product.
Harold also likes to joke they could’ve easily been the Kleenex Brothers.
